The Fintage picnic

I have been taking a bit of a break from blogging to enjoy the beautiful summertime; I've been spending my time traveling around Finland, seeing friends, attending festivals and gigs and just swimming in the nearby lake. Since I lived in Scotland for the past five summers, it has been quite a while since I last got to enjoy a summer this sunny and hot so I've been making most of it.

Last Sunday nine members of the Fintage forum, a Finnish vintage community, gathered together for a picnic in the Näsinpuisto park here in Tampere. None of my closest friends are really into vintage or dressing up so it was a wonderful treat for me to get to spend time with like-minded people. We talked about vintage, browsed Sears catalogs and old magazines, had freshly baked cakes and cookies, and Fiona played records.

  1. It truly was fun to meet you all! I don't have any friends that are interested in vintage, which is a pity, but making new friends is great.

(And maybe I'm going to publish the rest of the photos on my blog, after all, since you did so, too. :D)

  3. Oh look at all you wonderfully stylish ladies! I love meeting up with other vintage gals as, like you, all of my close friends aren't into the vintage scene x

  10. Thanks so much for the lovely comments, everyone!

Rhia - Pity that we missed you - but hopefully we'll have another picnic in the near future that you, too, can attend. Perhaps we could go thrifting together next month? That would be really fun. :)

Mrs Munster - Thank you! Not too many people passed by us, actually, the park was rather quiet that day. However, one man did pay a compliment to our DJ for playing such good music. :P

  12. Frollein von Sofa - Thank you! :) I have a similar gingham dress as the hat but on a second look, the shades are too different shades to match. Thanks anyway and I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for your hats! They're just gorgeous!

Kendra - It really was. :)
